Associate Professor Dale Roberts
Staff have spoken: 95% no-confidence in the executive, 88% rejection of the pay freeze—yet a $250 million austerity plan and 600 redundancies still loom. Six months of opaque briefings have traded collegiality for anxiety — and we still have no concrete plan.
I spent ten years structuring billion-dollar deals in finance and another decade rising from Lecturer to Associate Professor in mathematics and statistics. I'm numerate, understand balance sheets, and know how cuts land in a classroom. On Council I will fight for:
Commissioning an independent audit and publishing quarterly, college-level accounts;
Suspending redundancies until the data are tested and alternatives openly debated;
A workload model for teaching, research, and administration — with university-wide transparency;
Safeguarding disciplinary breadth — no college closure or course deletion without a binding staff ballot;
A public register of executive side-interests and a ban on undisclosed consultancies.
Vote Dale Roberts to replace secrecy with sunlight, fear with collegial decision-making, and short-term austerity with honest stewardship of Australia's national university.
