ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½'s Update: steps we have taken
Hi everyone,
Last week, our CFO released further through On Campus. This includes how we are tracking our Renew ANU progress. After the VSS is finalised, we anticipate that salary savings will be around $50 million. Which is an extraordinary amount of work from our community, and I want to say thank you for all that you are doing to support the University. I am also very conscious that every time we talk about dollars, we are also talking about people who are and have made incredibly valuable contributions to ANU, and so I encourage every conversation to be mindful of the impact to our friends, colleagues and students.
I also really appreciate our staff taking the time to share their views on change, and the University leadership remains committed to working across our community to provide financial information and updates. It’s clear that staff with outstanding questions around the finances are concentrated in a few places, so in the coming weeks, we’ll hold further meetings and townhalls for these staff specifically to work through the questions being raised, and we are continuing to release information as it becomes available. And I encourage our staff to access the Renew ANU website where we are always sharing information and current activities.
I know this is a really hard period for our community, and I know that each of us cares for this place and for our colleagues and students. And I know we are trying to have conversations as respectfully and as empathetically as we can because every conversation has ripples to the people and teams they impact. And I know we have so much work ahead of us – with the Nixon Report, with the changes we are making, with the complexity of the world changing around us that we have to keep navigating.
This is a lot going on and I know it is hard. And I also know we have a range of support services available if you need to speak to someone. The moment we find ourselves in is not what any of us would have wanted, and I am grateful to everyone for your continued commitment to make this place stand on our foundations of being a place of quality and distinction.
